Regina Police are investigating a potential threat at F.W. Johnson Collegiate in Regina’s east end on Thursday morning.
The building had to be placed in a Secure-The-Building mode for a short time after receiving statements that students had been previously threatened by another student at the school with threats of a firearm assault, which the student had indicated would occur today.
It was reported that the 15 year-old student that had made the threats was not in attendance at school.
At approximately 10:10 am, the school was placed into Secure-the-Building mode.
Shortly after, police arrived at the suspect’s home, where he was located and arrested. No firearms were found or recovered. The Secure-the-Building was lifted at approximately 11:15 am.
The “Secure the Building” protocol is out into effect when it is believed a threat is currently outside the building resulting in a decision being made to secure the school meaning all outside doors are locked with each exterior door being monitored by designated school staff until the all-clear is given. School activities continue as normal.
