Residents in the small towns of Gerald and Spy Hill woke up to the ground beneath them rattling.
However, residents in the area have no need to be worried.
Mosaic Mining Spokesperson Sarah Fedorchuk says the rumbling can be attributed to operations underway at the K2 mine near Esterhazy.
“We believe it’s a settling event over a previously mined area, an area we would have mined about 10 years ago,” she said. “There’s no impact to our operations.”
Fedorchuk says additional safety inspections have also been carried out in the wake of this incident and it’s been determined there is no safety issue.
