Saskatchewan urban and rural municipalities have a new guide as Ottawa prepares to legalize marijuana.
SARM President, Ray Orb said the guide was put together to help municipalities resolve concerns about land use, business licensing and public use around cannabis.
“You want to make sure that the proper licensing is put in place,” Orb said.
“I know, in regards to the municipalities they’re going to be looking at different production facilities, and there may be some that have also applied for retail outlets,” Orb continued.
The guide was put together with the help of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Orb added many questions still remain on enforcement and policing around the legalization of marijuana.
Marijuana is still expected to be legalized across Canada on July 1.
