RCMP spoke to reporters Thursday, after closing the intersection of Highway’s 35 and 335 where the Humboldt Broncos team bus and a semi collided on April 6th.
All roads leading to the intersection will be barricaded with detours in place.
Investigators are positioning vehicles similar to those involved in the collision, allowing our re-constructionists to take further measurements and analyze sight lines
Assistant Commissioner Curtis Zablocki, said pending their investigation, many interviews have been conducted, including some with the injured on the bus.
“At this time our teams have conducted over 50 interviews, with persons including independent witnesses, the driver of the tractor trailer unit, the owner of the trucking company, and with some of the victims,” he said.
“More interviews are scheduled in the coming days and weeks,” Zablocki added.
Zablocki could not comment on if criminal charges were still a possibility or not, but did confirm the semi was in the middle of the intersection when the collision occurred.
He added they have taken over 5500 photos of the scene and are now awaiting results from the mechanical work done to both vehicles.
RCMP say it is a common occurrence for investigators to open the scene of a collision and close it two weeks later.
The intersection will be re-opened Thursday evening.
More to come.
