It’s been a little over two weeks, (April 4) since Lang’s Cafe burnt to the ground on Broad Street.
Investigators have been working hard to try and determine a cause, but David Kinvig, Regina’s Deputy Fire Chief said all they will be able to confirm is where the blaze potentially began, and not how it started.
“We aren’t able to determine a cause, and we know it started at the back of the building, but we are not able to determine a cause there was to much damage to the building,” Kinvig said.
Kinvig added they also believe the fire did not ignite in the restaurant’s kitchen.
“When the fire first starts and we get there to fight it we know where the fire is basically most advanced, so we start in those areas. We knew the fire was most advanced in the back of the building, so that’s where we started our investigation,” said Kinvig.
Lang’s was a staple of downtown Regina for more than 30-years, it’s not known if the current owner will re-open or not.
