Ward 1 has some less than ideal roads.
And Councillor Barbara Young is well aware of it.
In the past couple of weeks, two roads in her ward, Cowan and Martin Crescent, have gained significant notoriety for their rough shape.
However, Young said those are just a few of the problematic roads.
“This is an area that has not had rebuilds and maintenance now for many years,” she said. “That’s why the city put the 1% tax in to maintain roads so that we don’t have this problem in the future.”
Young did note that will maintenance can help some of the roads in the area, there are some requiring deeper and more intricate solutions and work to make them ideal for driving conditions.
“It doesn’t help when we have droughts, which break underground pipes and causes a lot of the problems,” she said. “And it doesn’t help we have frost that goes very deep because that moves the pipes.”
Young further noted these problems are just strictly limited area of town, the issue of sub-standard road conditions is something several communities in Regina are dealing with.
