Lumsden Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Regina Fire Department, worked to suppress a fire that began east of Lumsden on Thursday evening.
Crews were dispatched from the town at about 4:00 PM. Crews then began fighting the blaze, that was at times burning three-four feet high. Along with strong winds, the fire was spreading to neighbouring fields.
Regina Fire, as well as other volunteer fire departments based in Craven and Regina Beach, were able to assist in putting out the fire until Regina Fire was dispatched to another fire close to Sherwood Forest at around 9:30.
Smoke was visible from Highway 11 between Regina and Lumsden for much of the evening.
According to Lumsden Fire Department, the fire is suppressed enough to be simply monitored overnight.
It is still too early to know a cause of the fire at this point.
