With spring cleaning underway, one city operation is doing their part to make sure people can access their facilities.
The landfill on the city’s outer edges is now extending their hours.
The dump is now open from 7-7 every day, including on stat days.
Landfill Operations Manager Greg Jelinski said in recent times, there’s been quite the demand from residents in the area to extend their hours.
“We saw a big change on Saturday alone,” noted Jelinski, “Just with the 20 degree temperatures here in the city. Our transfer station, where most of the residents are sent to was very busy.”
One of the more important topics of Jelinski spoke about was just how exactly those who require access to the landfill would be charged.
“Our charge rates for residents is a $10 minimum,” he said. “And then it’s based on weight, anything over 200 kilograms. So they’ll come through, they’ll get weighed on the way in, they’ll get weighed on the way out, then they’ll leave through that access station.”
Gates to the landfill close 15 minutes before 7PM to ensure vehicles are out of the landfill by closing time.
