RCMP have charged an Elk Point, Alberta man with attempted murder after an RCMP officer was shot at while attempting to pull over a stolen taxi last month.
Tristan Pinder faces many charges including attempted murder while 30 year old Verena Petruka from Melville is also facing a variety of charges including assaulting a police officer with a wepaon after the incident on April 14 that started in Regina when a cab driver was stabbed repeatedly in south Regina with his cab being stolen.
Maidstone RCMP say they received a complaint about a gas station theft in the town of Lashburn. Officers located the stolen taxi and tried to get it to stop, but those efforts were unsuccessful.
A pursuit continued until the vehicle stopped west of Delmas where a firearm was discharged from the van.
The two were eventually taken into custody.
Pinder is to make a court appearance in North Battleford on May 17 while Petruka will make a court appearance May 7.
