The NDP says the new application of the sales tax on used vehicle sales is unfair.
Opposition critic Carla Beck says the PST is based on the red book value of the vehicle, not the actual sale price.
She says one used vehicle, sold for 62 hundred dollars was taxed at a value of 98 hundred dollars.
Finance minister Donna Harpauer says the red book value for sales tax is used across Canada and was in effect under the NDP.
She says the sales tax rate can be appealed and adjusted.
