The Saskatchewan government is hiring a private consultant.
That consultant will be reviewing the intersection of Highway 35 and 335, where the Humboldt Broncos bus crashed occurred, killing 16 people April 6th.
Premier Scott Moe said their review will commence once the RCMP and Ministry of Highways complete their investigation into the accident.
“We’re allowing the RCMP, assisted by the Ministry of Highways to finish their investigation,” Moe said.
“Then we’ll be employing a private consulting firm, to do a safety assessment on this intersection, we’ll be taking the results of that very seriously,” said Moe.
Opposition NDP Leader Ryan Meili said the government should review a 2016 report which said using roundabouts in rural intersections, the number of collisions decreases by 67 percent.
