The Canadian Taxpayers Federation are adding their backing to the Saskatchewan Government in both of their lawsuit against the federal government on the carbon tax, and their stance on the Kinder Morgan pipeline in BC.
The Taxpayers Federation says both would cost taxpayers across the country far too much, and it is time to hold both levels of Government accountable.
Prairie Director Todd Mackay says it’s a cause for concern.
“These are issues that make a huge difference for taxpayers, obviously with a carbon tax is a massive issues because it’s going to cost us all an awful amount of money,” Mackay says. “But Prime Minister Trudeau has not provided any evidence to show it will actually help the environment; that’s a big problem.”
Mackay says BC’s environmental concern over the Kinder Morgan pipeline is unnecessary.
“The folks that are trying to build this pipeline, they jumped through hundreds of hoops in order to get the approval for this,” Mackay says. “Even Environment Minister Catherine McKenna says this is a good pipeline plan, (and) it meets all the requirements. If she thinks it’s good enough, I think it’s a good bet it’s good enough. If they jumped through the hoops, they need to be able to build that pipeline.”
Mackay says the pipeline will create jobs, while the carbon tax will take them away.
