Oak Tree Place is holding a fundraising gala this Saturday in Moose Jaw.
The gala will go to support programs which support people living with addictions, but also supporting a gathering place for the community.
Co-Founder Jody Oakes says she encourages people to come to the gala to learn about what Oak Tree Place does.
“We need the community support to come to the supper, and learn about us, and support the people who are in addiction and who are living in recovery,” Oakes says. “It’s something that we want to try and break down the stigma and have a safe place to come and share, and be part of something.”
Oakes says the funds raised will go towards the development of the programs and services they offer.
“We actually had our first meeting today, so the funds we’re going to put the funds towards our programming, and put it towards the capital of that,” Oakes says. “We don’t have any government funding at the moment, so really right now we are relying on donations, and any community funding that we can receive.”
620 CKRM’s own Rod Pedersen is the keynote speaker at the event.
Tickets are still available, and information on how to get tickets is on the Oak Tree Place Facebook page.
