An arbitrator in Saskatoon has ruled in favour of 95 former STC employees who weren’t given proper notice about their jobs being eliminated by the provincial government.
The union representing the workers claimed the Government of Saskatchewan violated the Canadian Labour Code with the move and demanded they receive eight weeks and four days of wages.
The arbitrator in the case agreed with that and subsequently ruled in favour of it.
Crown Investments Minister Joe Hargrave addressed the matter. He said the province “accepts” the arbitrator’s decision and will wholly abide by it, with payment to the employees coming as soon as possible.
