The Regina Airport Authority have found their new Chair and Vice Chair for the Board of Directors.
Sean McEachern and Trent Fraser are the new Chair and Vice Chair respectively, as McEachern takes over for the outgoing Ken Waschuk.
McEachern explains how he was nominated for the role.
“I feel that I had the skill set and knowledge of the airport itself to take on this new role, and of course my colleagues around the Board table felt that I was in a good position to do that, and elected me to this position.”
McEachern says despite the loss of Air Transat, YQR still has a vision of bringing in more international flights.
“In terms of attracting trans-border flights, we used to have United and Delta (airlines) flights into Regina, we lost those, and we continue to push really hard to try and attract those services back,” McEachern says. “We’ve engaged the community; not only in Regina but surrounding cities, and other communities, and business groups and so on, and of course, we’ve heard loud access to trans-border flights to the U.S. is important.”
While McEachern has served with YQR since 2012, as well as the U of R and SUMA before that, Fraser has more than 30 years of experience in marketing, sales, brand management and business development, including work with the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
