A high speed chase Monday morning on the Ring Road in which the suspect got to a speed of 180 kilometers an hour has a 25 year old Montmartre man facing charges.
Regina police say an officer was heading south on Ring Road near Highway 1 East around 11:25 a.m when another vehicle drove by in the other direction at a high rate of speed. The officer used his radar equipment and confirmed the vehicle was traveling at 165 kilometers an hour.
The officer did a u-turn and tried to follow the suspect vehicle, but the person behind the car accelerated before turning off onto Ross Avenue and Winnipeg Street where the officer lost sight of the car.
The vehicle was found a few blocks away at 2nd Avenue North and Broad Street where the officer placed his vehicle in the path of the suspect vehicle–a Black Mustang, and made the arrest of the driver, without further incident.
Dane Rusk was released until his first court appearance June 26. He has been charged with flight while pursued by a peace officer.
