The latest provincial crop report says Saskatchewan farmers made good seeding progress during the past week.
Crop extension specialist Daphne Cruise says seeding is 35 percent complete, up from 9 percent last week and just ahead of the 5 year average.
Seeding ranges from 49 percent in the southeast to 24 percent in east central and northwestern regions.
Rain showers were reported throughout the province, particularly in the southwest and west central areas with Gull Lake receiving 18 millimeters.
There have been multiple reports of grass and stubble fires due to dry conditions and rain would be welcome to alleviate dry field conditions.
Topsoil moisture is rated 57 percent adequate, 35 percent short and 8 percent very short.
SaskPower had 46 cases of farm machinery contacting electrical equipment in the last week, bringing the total for May to 73 incidents.
SaskPower is reminding farmers to be aware of power lines and plan ahead.
