The Mastercard Memorial Cup is going to bring junior hockey fans to Regina to see the Pats take on the champions of the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Tourism Regina says hotel rooms are at a premium with an estimated 4000 visitors expected over the course of the 10-day event.
They are also hoping that those coming to the city are going to experience more than the hockey.
Tourism Regina director of tourism Ashley Stone says there are many other things to check out.
“There are great opportunities to check out some iconic events like the Highland Games and the Cathedral Village Arts Festival.” Stone said. “We want to spread the word about those events and other tourist attractions like the RCMP Heritage Museum and Casino Regina.
While the hockey activity will be centred around Evraz Place, Stone is hoping those visiting and staying downtown will look around the downtown area and eat in the many fantastic restaurants that there are to offer.
Tourism Regina also has ambassadors and street teams who will serve as roving visitors services team as they will be in hotels and other places providing information and answering any questions visitors may have about the city and where they can go when not at Evraz Place.
