The Regina Pats and Swift Current Broncos finish round-robin play at the Memorial Cup Wednesday night, with the host team looking to finish at 2-1. A win Wednesday by Regina and they would move into the semi-final, the Broncos would be eliminated.
A Pats win would also mean Acadie-Bathurst goes straight to Sunday’s final and Regina faces Hamilton in the semi-final.
If the Broncos win, Hamilton takes top spot and a berth in the final while the Pats and Broncos battle again Thursday night in a tiebreaker to see who faces Acadie-Bathurst in the semi-final game.
Regina is coming off an 8-6 loss to Acadie-Bathurst on Sunday in a game that did not please John Paddock, because of the many mistakes that were made by his team. The Pats Head Coach and General Manager knows that effort won’t be repeated on Brandt Centre ice Wednesday night,
“There’s no chance in the world a team playing playoff hockey would make that many mistakes again, it’s impossible,” Paddock stated simply.
Game time is 8:00 p.m. You can listen to it on 620 CKRM starting with the pre-game show at 7:00 p.m.
