Many who have checked out the Mastercard Memorial Cup this week at the Brandt Centre have also spent some time in Banner Hall checking out the Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit.
That exhibit features all the major trophies handed out by the NHL, as well as many other artifacts from the game Canadians love.
Howie Borrow with the Hockey Hall of Fame said with the Memorial Cup being a junior hockey event, they have brought many items from the world of the Canadian Hockey League to Regina.
“We have here a little bit of everything, some of the guys have never really made the pro’s but they had an impact on junior hockey themselves too, so they may have contributed on winning teams, had game winning goals, stuff like that,” Borrow said.
Some of the things on display are some Pats sweaters from the 1974 Memorial Cup, Mario Lemieux’s junior jersey and the jersey worn by Wayne Gretzky in his last NHL game as a member of the New York Rangers.
Fanfest will be open through to Sunday and is free to the public.
