NDP leader Ryan Meili is pushing the Saskatchewan government to support a national pharmacare program.
Meili says a comprehensive national drug plan provides well documented benefits.
He says those benefits include better health outcomes, lower health system costs and see fewer patients missing their medications.
Premier Scott Moe says any proposed national plan must be an improvement on Saskatchewan’s comprehensive drug program.
He says a broader discussion is needed on federal support for health care funding, which needs to be increased.
Moe says Saskatchewan recently signed an agreement with western premiers on the need to ensure adequate access to pharmaceutical drugs.
