Voters in the provincial riding of Regina Northeast need to go to the polls to select a new MLA, but they don’t know when that happen.
While a byelection date is not known, both of Saskatchewan’s main political parties now have a candidate.
Gary Grewal won the nomination meeting for the Saskatchewan Party on Thursday night. They currently hold the seat as former finance minister Kevin Doherty was the MLA, but he stepped down in March to join an Alberta consulting firm.
The NDP had previously selected Yens Pedersen to run.
Many believe the byelection will be a solid test of the Scott Moe government as it could be difficult for them to win or maintain seats in Regina.
