The game of football will take a big step forward in Moosomin Wednesday night.
The first midget girls tackle football game will take place between the Moosomin Generals and Melville.
G.M and President of the Generals football club Jason Schenn said after reaching out to girls, they had close to 40 who were interested in playing, however many simply didn’t want to play against boys.
“And my vision for this is to grow and become a provincial league, there’s a lot of talk out there about concussions and safety things that come with the game, but I think there’s a lot of lack of understanding of all the good components of the game and I think the best way to get that out there is getting more people involved in the sport,” Schenn said.
Schenn added they would also like to grow this to be province wide, which would in-turn provide more opportunities for girls to move to up to the WWCFL.
