An appeal has been filed for the young man who killed four people and wounded seven others in the northern Saskatchewan community of La Loche in January 2016.
The man, who was days away from his 18th birthday, when he shot two boys in their home before continuing his rampage at the town’s school was sentenced as an adult earlier this year, but his defence lawyer Aaron Fox is appealing that verdict. Fox wants the man to be sentenced as a youth.
At the time of the sentencing, justice Janet McIvor did not allow for the publication of the boy’s name for 30 days so that the defence could file an appeal if they desired.
It is not known when the appeal hearing will be held.
