A Regina school is celebrating diversity and mindfulness.
Sheldon Williams Collegiate held the Cultural Connections Celebration Wednesday morning, in front of a packed auditorium.
Several awards were handed out, including ones for leadership, Indigenous Resiliency and for other various initiatives.
“What they (the students) bring each and every day really encourages our staff and our students to be a more inclusive society,” said principal Ken Meredith.
Right from the start of the year, Meredith noted it that ceremonies like the one celebrated are essential to recognizing student and staff accomplishment. He also addressed another prominent topic that was a large part of the festivities: mindfulness.
“Mindfulness encourages, not only students, but adults as well, to reflect on what they do on a daily basis.”
