Sunday marked the 25th anniversary of the Sun Life Walk To Cure Diabetes.
The walk saw hundreds of people turn out to raise funds and awareness for type one diabetes.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation spokesperson Randy Durovick said many people in Saskatchewan are affected by diabetes.
“In Saskatchewan right now, the latest demographics are that roughly 276,000 people have one form or another of diabetes, whether it’s type 1 of type 2,” he said.
According to Durovick, one in five people in Saskatchewan are impacted by diabetes.
One of those people is Anika Dyck, who has type one diabetes.
She said to see people out and actively learning uniting around the cause was something good to see.
“It’s pretty important because I’ve met a lot of people who aren’t aware of what diabetes is,” she said.
