The protestors at the lawns outside the Saskatchewan Legislature want to speak with members of the provincial government.
Wednesday morning, an invitation was extended from the Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism and Colonialism No More to the Minister of Justice Don Morgan, Deputy Minister of the Provincial Capital Commission Richard Murray and the Minister of Social Services Paul Merriman for a meeting on the afternoon of June 22nd on their grounds.
This invitation comes just as a previous meeting fell through after the two parties couldn’t agree on grounds in which to host their original talk.
Protestor Prescott Demas said should the invitation be accepted, there will be some discussion on big matters.
“There are many, many cases out there, look at all the missing and murdered Indigenous women that have yet to be investigated properly,” he said. “It’s a systemic problem.”
Demas noted that while he is hopeful there will be a meeting, he’s not incredibly optimistic about it.
“I have no confidence in this government at all, I’ll just say that.”
