Husky Energy is seeking the approval to build a new pipeline to replace the one that caused a major leak into the North Saskatchewan River two years ago.
The oil spill compromised water systems in Prince Albert, North Battleford and other northeastern communities.
An open house event was held in Prince Albert on Wednesday by Calgary-based Husky to discuss its proposal.
Husky says the new line would be tougher and better placed than the old one and the company has improved its operating procedures.
The goal is to have construction begin as soon as fall 2018.
