The University of Regina banning smoking of any kind throughout campus is being met with praise.
Donna Pasiechnik, with the Canadian Cancer Society said she believes the U of R is doing the right thing by banning all types of smoking throughout campus on August 1st.
“We have advocated for this measure provincially for a number of years,” Pasiechnik said. “We’re thrilled that the U of R has shown such leadership, and we’re now hoping the rest of the province will follow,” she added.
In Saskatchewan, adults aged 20-24 rank has the highest number of smokers.
Pasiechnik said with the high numbers, it only makes sense for the ban.
“Young adults 20-24 they’re the highest number of smokers,” she said.
