An outdoor green space with a special meaning was unveiled at a Regina high school.
The Heart of the Site, a sanctuary and gathering space, was unveiled at the Mamaweyatitan Centre Friday morning.
The site was commenced after the Mosaic Company announced $100,000 in funding to build the it.
Many in attendance expressed pleasure with the site, including those attending and working at the centre.
“It’s a place of beauty and you see all this growth,” said Noel Starblanket, an Elder in Residence there. “Nice natural things, that really means alot.”
“It’s not just a versatile outdoor space,” Jeff Barber, Chair of the Mamaweyatitan Centre, said. “It’s also a tangible link to Indigenous cultural traditions and teachings that are a vital part of this community and the work taking place at this facility.”
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are supporting this project.
