STARS air ambulance now has a plan in place to replace their aging fleet.
CEO Andrea Robertson made the announcement earlier Monday, saying they will phase out the 11 helicopter fleet, to nine newer models
Robertson said the BK117’s and the AW139’s will be making way for the Airbus H145’s.
“The BK’s are between 25 and 35 years old. They’ve been a great aircraft for us in the time being.”
There’s no set date for when they can make way for the H145’s, as they face three different challenges.
“One would be, well obviously we need the newer helicopters in order to sell the ones we currently have so that we maintain operation. We are working with our governments for support and of course through capital campaigns.”
