If going to Wascana Park isn’t in your plans for Canada Day, maybe the RCMP depot will be.
Another year of the RCMP Sunset-Retreat ceremonies begin later in the evening on July 1st.
RCMP spokesperson Corporal Daryl Chernoff said those in attendance will see that the ceremonies have a Musical Ride quality to them.
“What we do is a dismounted cavalry drill, which is basically a Musical Ride, but marching,” he said. “The band is going to be playing, the cadets are going to be showing their talents on that. We also have the cannons that will be going off on the parade square, as well as a rifle drill.”
Chernoff also noted once you’re done looking at the festivities on the ground, it’s worth fixing your eyes on the sky for a special treat.
“6:45 sharp, we’re going to hopefully have two jets, one for sure, CF-18 Hornets coming in from CFB Cold Lake.”
