A tornado was spotted south of Yorkton near the Otthon area, but according to a meteorologist at Environment Canada it wasn’t that strong.
Terri Lang said a video of the twister that was posted onto Twitter, but it was given a strength rating of EF-zero.
‘From the video, it looks like you can see a bit of debris hitting the ground, or moving around on the ground, so that confirms there was a touchdown,” Lang said. “The issue it doesn’t appear to have done any damage.”
Lang said based on a video shared on Twitter, it appeared to be a land spout tornado.
“Land spout tornadoes are a certain type of tornado, they come out of a particular type of rapidly developing thundershower, but these thundershowers are not super-cellular meaning they don’t produce a long lasting, really strong tornadoes.”
Lang said regardless if it’s a weak one or a strong one, the best thing to do as a precaution during a tornado is get inside your home and away from windows.
