The soccer world in Saskatchewan is in the spotlight this weekend at Mosaic stadium and the U of R.
Soccer Day in Saskatchewan is being celebrated with 3-on-3, youth camps, provincial soccer league playoffs, and ladies REX program playing the U of R women’s soccer team.
Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Soccer Association Doug Pederson says officials are also highlighted during the weekend too.
“We’re wanting to highlight the great work that our officials do and partner with SaskSport, who have the ‘Make Official’ campaign that raises awareness of the need for quality officiating, need for better support for officials, and the need for us to continue to work with our officials to advance them to the levels that they desire to get to.”
Pederson says Soccer registration is strong throughout their 66 member organizations.
“We have about 42,000 registrations annually, so we have a lot of Soccer going on, and we appreciate that and of course we’re excited about all of the things that are happening in Soccer in the world, in particular it’s an exciting event with World Cup this weekend.”
