There have been 16 tornadoes that have touched down so far in Saskatchewan this year.
The Canadian Red Cross is advising those in the areas that are prone to tornadoes to be active in emergency preparedness.
Georgiana Schuring with the Canadian Red Cross said the best thing to do is to discuss it with your household.
“So, if you can sit down with your family at home and work out where that safe place is at your home, should there be a tornado warning. That should be the lowest level of your house.”
Schuring also recommends if you’re out in the field, to enter a ditch if you can’t go indoors.
Also, if you’re on a farm she said to be cautious not only for your family, but your livestock as well.
“If it is safe to do so, open the gates. Livestock will get away from bad weather whenever possible. Only do it if it’s safe to do so.”
