Those who will be spending time at Douglas Provincial Park on the southern end of Diefenbaker Lake near Elbow are being told of a “dangerous animal” alert issued July 13.
There have been bear sightings within the boundaries of the park prompting the alert to be issued.
The Ministry of Environment says it is not uncommon to see bears at this time of year, especially young ones who are looking for new territory, food or attracted to smells.
The province says visitors to the park should keep campsites free of items that may attract a bears attention and to lock vehicles when they are not near them or sleeping.
Anyone encountering a bear are being told to never approach it or feed it, and to keep pets on a leash when walking them.
