19-year-old Kade Johnson is the provincial men’s amateur golf champion.
The Yorkton native, who golfs at Southern Arkansas University, shot a 6-under 66 on the final day of the 54 hole event at Dakota Dunes in Saskatoon to take the title with a score of 9-under 207
Humboldt’s Michael Herperger finished second as he was two shots back after also shooting a 66 on the last day.
Saskatoon’s Dave Stewart , who had been the leader going into the final round, was 3rd with a 54 hole score of 210.
The 2018 Canadian Amateur championship will be played August 6-9 in Qualicum Beach, B.C. with Johnson, Herperger, Stewart and Saskatoon’s Ty Campbell who finished 4th representing Saskatchewan.
While Herperger finished 2nd in the amateur, he did win the mid-amateur title. Herperger, Stewart, Eston’s Jeremy Ryde and Prince Albert’s Danny Klughart will represent Saskatchewan at the Canadian championship in Victoria from August 21-24.
