Into the number 1’s we go! Starting it off is a smash hit from 2013. “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line became the best selling country digital song of all time. It stayed at the top of the country chart for 24 straight weeks, the longest ever.
Carrie Underwood got a little good news on this day in 2013. Her single “Temporary Home” was officially certified platinum. Originally recorded and released in 2009, a Billboard review said “Vocally, she has never sounded more heartfelt and compelling.”
Looking back at July 24th, 2010 a fella by the name of Luke Bryan landed his first number 1 song. Since that time he’s earned 13 more number 1 songs, but “Rain is a Good Thing” kicked his career into high gear.

Blackhawk learned their self titled debut album was certified double platinum on this day in 1996. A huge accomplishment for the band named after the Stutz Blackhawk luxury car that ended production in 1987. From that debut album came “Goodbye Says it All.”
July 24th, 1982 Alabama hit the top of the Billboard Country Singles chart. “Take Me Down” was written by the boys from Exile who also recorded it in the early 80’s but it didn’t take off for them. Then a huge band called Alabama came along, picked up the song, and turned it into their 7th number 1 song, it also did very well on pop radio that year.
We have to celebrate a couple birthday’s today on number 1’s at 1. Up first is the daughter of a country music icon, in fact she inducted her father into the Grand Ol Opry back in 2007. She also carved out a very successful career on her own with 13 top ten songs including a number 1 in 1995. She is best friends with Lorrie Morgan and was just here in Regina a couple of months ago. I can tell you it was an absolute thrill to emcee their show at Casino Regina. Happy 61st birthday to Pam Tillis.
