Development of a groundwater well is now underway for the Milestone Phase one project.
The project, lead by Western Potash Corp is looking to have this next phase lead to the full on approval of the project.
Director Matthew Woods said should it get approved, it would be quite the community investment.
“The project will inject over $300 million into the economy during construction and operation,” said Woods. “The benefits certainly come from employment, purchase, taxes, royalty.”
As Woods also noted, this project is quite unique, as it will be an environment and financially friendly one.
“We’re looking at very innovative new technology,” he said. “No one in the province has done selective horizontal mining before, but it has some really big environmental benefits and cost benefits as well.”
