The provincial NDP Critic for the Global Transportation Hub says the Saskatchewan government’s mismanagement of the file has left taxpayers on the hook for a rising debt of $40 million.
Cathy Sproule commented on the situation on Monday.
She said the project’s annual report shows no land sales, despite a projected revenue of $10 million.
Sproule also noted no one is interested in buying the GTH.
“I think, in the worst case scenario, Regina may end up getting it dumped on them,” she stated. “Because, if the government just disbands the GTH, the authority, then it would become land within the city of Regina limit.”
Last week, the RCMP cleared the province of criminal wrong doing. However, the province’s Justice Minister Don Morgan admitted they made costly land purchase mistakes and probably shouldn’t have involved themselves in the business.
