When the Saskatchewan Roughriders hit the field at Mosaic Stadium Monday to start getting ready for their game in Edmonton Thursday, Zach Collaros was one of the players taking part as he has come off the six-game injured list early.
Collaros has been on the six-game injured list since suffering a concussion in a 40-17 loss to Ottawa in Week 2 play on June 21. In the game and a half that he played, he was 22-of-35 for 309 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
There has been no indication from the team whether or not Collaros will start, but it was clear in Saturday’s 12 point loss to Calgary that the team couldn’t do what it wanted to do offensively with Brandon Bridge at quarterback.
Bridge has started four games in Collaros’ absence with the team going 2-2 in those games.
The Riders also announced the signing of international defensive back Marcell Young and the release of international defensive back Will Blackmon. Young is best known for an incident earlier this year when he levelled a fan that had gotten onto the field at B.C Place when he was a member of the Lions. Blackmon, who won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants in 2011, was hoping to make a football comeback.
