While the Queen City Ex is in town once again, a main attraction is the food.
While several of the classics, such as corndogs, cotton candy and curly fries, make their return, a lot of new foods are making their debut.
Owner and operator of Poutine King Derek Collins brought his new meatball corndog to the Ex this year. He said a lot goes into the new addition to his menu.
“So you’re going to get the typical corndog batter, so a nice, sweet cornmeal, then you’re going to have a nice, spicy meatball inside and we’re going to put marinara sauce on top with our Parmesan cheese.”
Owner and Operator of Deep Fried Cheese Phillip Davis said his creation of deep fried wine and cheese is fairly simple.
“The inspiration is to take a very good classic that everyone has enjoyed for many years, and bring it to the carnival in a way that suits the carnival.”
Jason Au is the owner and operator of Tin Lizzy’s which owns several food concessions on the grounds. He said the Kangaroo meat had to be shipped in from Calgary to make the new Kangaroo burger.
“It’s a really nice, lean, healthy, and a little bit gamy, but not like wild, so a little taste, but not over the top.”
The Queen City Ex wraps up Sunday night.
