The rides, games and food vendors are all set up for another Queen City Ex this weekend.
People were allowed in to experience the exhibition Wednesday as the gates opened at noon. They have until Sunday night to check things out at Evraz Place.
Communications Manager Shalyn Kivela said the Zipper makes its return to the Ex this year after a year’s hiatus.
“It’s not the same Zipper as it was in previous years, it’s a new and improved ride,” Kivela said. “What it has is open-view seating to intensify the experience, it’s also got an over-the-shoulder harness, so you’re not bouncing around a cage anymore, and it’s a little bit of a more comfortable riding experience.”
Kivela said concerts will be back in Confederation Park this year with 620 CKRM bringing Craig Morgan in Sunday night for a concert.
“We heard a lot of feedback from our fair goers that they really loved the outdoor experience, and there really is nothing better than watching a great concert with all of your friends outside, enjoying the summer weather.”
The Queen City Ex midway is open every day until Sunday from noon until midnight.
Some of the unique food items to sample this year include charcoal ice cream in a cup, a meatball corndog and a cricket grilled cheese sandwich.
