It isn’t the ranking they had last year, but the city of Weyburn is still a very attractive spot to live according to Moneysense Magazine.
The magazine released its annual ranking of over 500 cities across Canada this week with Weyburn coming in at 33rd overall and number one when it comes to the best place in the Prairie provinces. Last year, they were 5th overall
The magazine looks at a variety of different factors when compiling their report ranging from real estate value to population growth to crime.
While the ranking isn’t as high as last year, it still is one that pleases mayor Marcel Roy.
“There is a lot of community involvement here and that goes a long way to building civic pride.” Roy stated. “It’s a pro-active way to build a safe community and it is one of the many things that makes Weyburn great.”
Roy said the magazine certainly makes it easy to market Weyburn both inside and outside of Saskatchewan.
“We’ve been marketing Weyburn as a great place to live and this certainly helps. We may not be one of the larger centres, but we have a lot to offer and those thinking of setting up shop should come here for a visit just to see what type of community it is. Some have already seen that and I don’t expect anything to change. A lot of credit has to go to city workers and the people for putting Weyburn’s best foot forward and it shows.
Three other Saskatchewan centres made the top 100. Saskatoon came in 60th, Estevan 93rd and Regina 97th,
