A Saturday night stunner from the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
With the team about to end its second bye week and start preparing for a game on August 19 at home against the 7-0 Calgary Stampeders, the 3-4 Riders announced the release of WR Duron Carter. Carter went to his Twitter account shortly before the news became official from the green-and-white.
Welp… just got the call… I’m out Sask! Love y’all!!! Most fun I had in a long time!!!

After a 2017 in which Carter was named the team’s most outstanding player after a season where he had 73 catches for 1043 yards and eight touchdowns along with one as a defensive back, Carter spent much of 2018 as a defensive back instead of a receiver. He had one interception and just eight catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
No reason for the release has been given by the football team and none likely will come until the team gets back on the field which is expected on Tuesday or Wednesday.
