SaskPower says just 24 hours after a new consumption record was set last Thursday, it was broken again.
Spokesman Johnathan Tremblay said 3,524 megawatts was used Friday, but usage dropped a bit on the weekend.
“Thankfully Saturday didn’t see a new record, despite the very hot temperatures in places,” Tremblay said. “That’s because the weekend usually sees a decline in demand because manufacturers are shutdown on the weekend, so we rarely see records on weekends,”
He does say 54 megawatts more power has been used so far this summer compared to the 2017 summer peak.
Put in perspective, that’s equivalent power use of 50,000 homes.
