Regina Fire now have an idea as to what caused the apartment fire on Hanbidge Crescent.
The fire that started on Saturday, has left over 39 families still without a home.
Fire Marshal Randy Ryba said the fire started from the attic above a service room on the top floor.
“Given that upon review of the immediate area, we observed an electrical junction box was the most damaged area of origin, with multiple conductors leaving the box.”
Ryba said it’s possible it could’ve been an electrical fire, given the hot-spot as to where it started.
“For example, if somebody was stepping on the conduit in their normal duties throughout the day working in that area, or throughout the week or months, as well as improper installation and expansion and contraction of the conduits given the weather conditions.”
Ryba said they still aren’t allowing tenants to return to their homes just yet.
