An early morning incident on Regina’s east side is now a death investigation.
Around 2:45 Saturday morning, police were sent to a home on Stice Crescent in the Glencairn area between Dewdney Avenue and Thomson Avenue where they were told an adult man had a firearm. Upon arrival, they saw a man outside with a firearm and tried speaking with him.
A news release from Regina police say the man walked away from the officers when a gunshot was heard. The release adds the officers attending had no physical contact with the man, nor did they discharge their firearms.
On Saturday morning, three homes on the midway area of the crescent had police tape across their yards—two on one side of the street and one on the other.
The coroner’s office and Major Crimes are investigating.
Regina police have also advised the Ministry of Justice on what happened as this could be classified as an “in-custody death”
