The Regina Thunder hit the field Saturday night as the Prairie Football Conference begins with an all-provincial matchup.
The Thunder take on a Saskatoon Hilltops team looking to make it five straight national titles and eight over the last nine seasons at Mosaic Stadium in a 7 o’clock start.
Regina Head Coach Scott MacAulay says they are excited and raring to go as they bring a lot of new to the table ranging from players to the coaching staff which includes former long-time Riders assistant Alex Smith and Regina Riot Head Coach Olivier Eddie. One of the new players is quarterback Brock Sich. He takes over for Sawyer Buettner who has moved on to play USports Football with the University of Ottawa. MacAulay is excited to see what he can do.
“I’m excited to see what he can do.” MacAulay said during a visit to 620 CKRM’s Sportscage. “Brock has had playing experience with us having started a couple of games last year. When he got into a game, he made the reads and found the right guy to get the ball into the endzone so I am excited to see what he brings this year.”
