Government Relations Minster Warren Kaeding has ordered an official inspection of the operation of the RM of McKillop, about 80 kilometers northwest of Regina.
Kaeding has appointed retired senior government municipal advisor Carol Ingham to complete an inspection and report back on the state of the RM’s affairs.
This week taxpayer groups expressed great concern about huge tax hikes in the RM and one official warned of a possible tax revolt.
Kaeding says the inspection will be a high-level look at the general operations of the RM, with a focus on voter petitions, legal actions and a study of the financial situation.
A final report is expected to be completed by September 15th and will be submitted to the government and the local RM council.
